Planning my garden with Burpee Seeds and a giveaway

The warmer weather has got me thinking about our garden.  With a couple of days of sunshine and all the snow melting I'm starting to get that itch to go outside and work in the dirt.  I've been plotting and planning what vegetables to grow in our garden this year.  Based off of what vegetables I've had success growing in the past, what my family likes to eat and what I can preserve to eat over the winter months... I've come up with a plan of what to plant.
W. Atlee Burpee & Co. has been supplying Americans with seeds since 1876.  By 1915 they were mailing million of seed catalogs and nothing signals the coming of spring like opening the mail box to find a Burpee catalog.  Or looking online at all their new varieties.  Regardless how you shop you are bound to find the right seeds, plants and products for your garden.

To celebrate the first day of spring and help you get ready for your own garden, I'm pleased to say, Burpee seeds are hosting a giveaway on my blog for 2 packages of their new Summer Squash Cupcake Hypbrid.

Our garden has a few of the traditional vegetables that are more commonly planted in the garden; peas, tomatoes, zucchini, a lettuce mix and some green beans.  But then I always like to plant something new or different.  Whether it's a different color or a different shape I like seeing something unique growing in my garden each year.  So this year I decided to try Burpee's new Summer Squash the "Cupcake" hybrid.
This squash variety grows in the shape of a cupcake 2 - 5 inch fruits which will have a sweet and somewhat savory flavor.  It is a combination of patty-pan's rich, sweet flavor and zucchini's soft skin. A large, trailing plant that will yield dozens of round, green squash.

I also selected the Italian Rose Bean

And again just for fun a Purple Vienna Kohlrabi.
Now for the giveaway....Burpee is allowing me to give away 2 packets of the Summer Squash Cupcake Hybrid to one lucky reader.  Simply click on the rafflecopter widget below and sign up for your chance to win.  Please note the winner must be a US resident. Contest runs 3/18 through 3/25.   Winner will be notified via e-mail and have 48 hours to claim their prize.

My husband is really the gardener in our house, and he usually plants peas and onions.

Tomato, onions, and peppers are the best. We like to make salsa.
