Mapley Smoked Sausage Appetizers

Well now that football season is in full swing, so our my Sunday afternoon appetizers.  We love having something to snack on while we watch the game.  This week I selected a recipe out of Gooseberry Patch's new "Slow Cooker Christmas Favorites" Cookbook for a Mapley Smoked Sausage Appetizer.
I loved that this recipe called for both pineapple and maple syrup and these two ingredients really enhanced the smokey flavor of the sausages.  I served them on toothpicks and they were quite the hit for a game time snack.

15.25 oz can pineapple tidbits, drained and juice reserved
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup vinegar
1/3 cup water
4 tsp. cornstarch
14 oz. pkg. mini smoked sausages
1. In a bowl, blend reserved pineapple juice, maple syrup, vinegar and water.
2. Stir in cornstarch
3. Pour into a slow cooker.
4. Add Pineapple and sausages; stir gently.
5. Cover and cook on low setting for 4 to 6 hours.
Serves 8
