The Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo & a giveaway

Growing up in northern Indiana I had been to the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo a couple of times, but it had been a good 15 years since I had been there.  So needless to say, I was excited to take MacchiOTTo there to see the animals.  As she knows many of the animals by name and knows the sounds that they make, so it's fun to see her recognize and point out things throughout the zoo.
First off I have to say how great it was to have lots of shade trees at this zoo.  The animal exhibits were built in and around big trees which help to keep the visitors cool on warm summer days.  The landscaping in and around the animals was really beautiful to see and there were lots of flowers, waterfalls, and plant species to enjoy along your walk throughout the zoo.

With being a children's zoo I appreciated that all the railings and fencing were designed low so kids sitting in their stroller could still see the animals without having to get in and out all the time.  There were several interactive exhibits located throughout the zoo as well for kids to pretend being in a tent camp on the African Plains or a research facility in the rainforest.  These additional sites gave kids a chance to play, explore and learn more about the animals and the parts of the world they come from.
And of course there were rides to enjoy at the zoo as well.  Whether your kids are young or old there is something there they will enjoy.  MacchiOTTo rode the train and really enjoyed it, but there are also log rides and sky lifts for older kids.  And there are random animal feedings throughout the zoo as well.  I highly recommend riding feeding the Giraffe's as it is a unique experience.
And, lastly one of my favorite things about the zoo is the fact that there are peacocks wandering around  at their own free will throughout the zoo.  You'll see them when you first walk in the gates, and hanging out in trees, on a fence, down by a pond or walking down the sidewalk.  It's awesome to see all their colorful feathers in the sunshine!
And now thanks to the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo one lucky reader will win a 4 pack of family tickets to see the zoo for themselves.  Simply click on the rafflecopter widget below for your chance to enter.  The contest runs from 6/26 through 6/30 at midnight.  Winner will be notified via e-mail and have 48 hours to claim their prize or risk forfeit.
