I'm happy to be working with Indiana's Family of Farmers on this post regarding their upcoming Zest ‘n Zing: A Foodie Event for the At-Home Chef.
Do you sit at home watching the Food Network? Are you a follower of shows like Chopped? Iron Chef? Cupcake Wars? Throwdown with Bobby Flay? Well why not come out to a live head-to-head competition where two chefs compete to create a great new dish. But unlike your average cooking competition this one has a twist. An Ag twist!! You see for this event the chef is paired up with a farmer and cooks using a food item that the farmer partner raises.
On Tuesday, May 7th at the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, in downtown Indianapolis, you can attend this unique event that is sure to captivate the foodie in you. From 5-7 pm you can mingle with farmers and fellow foodies such as yourself while sampling food and drinks from local breweries and winery's. Then at 7 pm the cooking competition begins in the auditorium. Two chefs and two farmers go head-to-head in a competition to prepare the best dish made with farm raised ingredients. This years chefs are Jason Anderson (last years winner) and Greg Schiesser from Indiana Downs. Emcees for the night are Paul Poteet and Jennie Runevitch from WTHR and you know they will be entertaining.
All tickets are sold pre-event and can be purchased for $20 online at www.infarmbureau.org and the best part is that all proceeds from the ticket sales go to Gleaners Food Bank. All guests will receive a swag bag with practical kitchen and cooking items.
