One thing MacchiOTTo and I do everyday is read. After all, studies show that the more children are read to the better they do in school. So we read the classics. We read books that rhyme. We read about farm animals, shapes and colors. We read the newspaper, magazines and sometimes old college textbooks. In general she seems to like books and it keeps her busy so I am happy to oblige.
Some days we read at home or go to the library. We even read at the grandparents. Anything I can do to make reading more fun and interesting for her, I try. So when LeapFrog offered us the opportunity to review their Tag Jr. Books and Book Pal (for ages 1-4) I "leaped" for joy.
The LeapFrog Tag Jr. Pal uses touch technology to read the story aloud to your children. Simply download the audio for the book you have to the Pal (ours is named Scout) and Scout will read the words on the page aloud along with songs and sound effects. In fact each book contains 150 audio responses as each page is full of different noises and I feel like each time we read the book we find new interactions. And our favorite part is that we could download her name to the device so each time we turn it on and off it welcomes her by name. You should see the look on her face when Scout says that.
MacchiOTTo and I reviewed the Tag Jr. Toddler Milestones book collection which contained 4 books all geared toward her age group (Count Leap to Sleep, Leaps New Potty, Things to Do with Baby, & How are You Feeling?) All these books were board books which is great at her age and Scout is a useful reading aid and I'm sure as she grows older this will help her continue to learn new words.
