Bourbon Maple BBQ Sauce & a Giveaway

I have blogged before about this amazing bourbon infused maple syrup I got at last years National Maple Syrup Festival in Medora, In.  Today I am sharing a recipe for a Bourbon Maple BBQ sauce that goes great on shredded pork and I have a giveaway for you to enter.  If you'll recall Ott, E and I have been to the National Maple Syrup Festival for the past two years.  Last year I was lucky enough to be a judge at the Festival in the King Arthur Flour Sweet Victory Challenge.  All the entries in this contest had to contain both maple syrup and King Arthur Flour and let me tell you there were some great tasting recipes in this competition.  The Festival has an all you can eat pancakes and maple syrup menu, as well as tours of Burtonwood Maple Syrup Farm where you can see the histroical progression of collecting and making maple syrup through the years.
But let me get to this recipe for a unique spin on BBQ sauce.  I prepared my shredded pork by putting a pork roast in my crock pot covered for 12-14 hours on low.  I added a can of sprite to my roast, but there are lots of different options to choose from when cooking your roast.  After those 12-14 hours, I took 2 forks and shredded the meat.

Next I mixed up my Bourbon Maple BBQ sauce.
  • 2 shots of bourbon
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Bourbon infused maple syrup (or just plain maple syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • Dash of Coarse black pepper

  • Mix Ingredients and pour over shredded pork. Let sit in crock pot, covered, on low for at least one hour or in a large pot on the stove over medium heat until warm.
Ummm....  The bourbon flavors match up great with the ketchup and other ingredients to give your BBQ sauce a peppery kick.
Atlas, it's a good thing the 2013 National Maple Syrup Festival is right around the corner (the weekends of March 2nd & 3rd and March 9th & 10th) as my bottle of bourbon infused maple syrup in gone.  Empty.  Dry as can be.
And last, but not least, the GIVEAWAY.  Now you too can attend this years National Maple Syrup Festival as I am giving away two tickets to this years festival on my blog.  Simply use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter.  The contest will run from Monday, February 11 through Saturday, February 16th.  Winners will be announced on this blog on the 17th.  Good Luck!!
