And, I can explain why I have a flip phone, you see for work I used to have to carry a blackberry and it was only for work related calls. So to save space in my purse I used a flip phone for all my personal calls. Now that I no longer have to carry two phones, I realized it was time for an upgrade. So the folks at Verizon Wireless are allowing me to test out all their new phones to help me decide which phone I like the best. To start with I'm reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S III.
Right away I liked the sleek design of the phone, that it was thin and lightweight, but had a big screen. The phone had 4G which did allow for quick downloading of web pages and social media sites. The camera on this phone is 8 mega pixels and although it took me a while to figure it out, you can use the volume buttons on the side of the phone to zoom in on the subject you are taking a picture of. The only thing I had trouble with on this phone was answering calls, which when you think of it is pretty important in a phone. When the phone would ring, it wasn't obvious where to push on the phone to accept the call, once I learned it wasn't an issue, but for that first call it wasn't the way you would instinctively answer.
I played around with the S Voice feature on this phone where you can ask it questions and it will find answers via the web, or update your social media status. I will admit this was a cool feature, and I could see where it would be very useful for those times your hands aren't free to type out what you want to search for. There were a couple of words it misunderstood, but some of that is understandable with voice activation technology. Overall I was impressed with this app and enjoyed using it.
Lastly, I liked that this phone has the S Beam which makes transferring files between Galaxy S III phones simple just by tapping them together. It's just a neat feature to have.
Please note Verizon did send me this phone to try for a month, but I did not receive any other compensation for this post and the thoughts and opinions shared here are my own.
