I've blogged before about making headbands for MacchiOTTo to wear, and I'm at it again but this time with something new to show you. I went out and bought a glue gun (yes, I didn't own a glue gun until today) and got a little crafty with making flowers out of ric rac. (Another confession I didn't know ric rac was called ric rac I just referred to it and wavy ribbon. So I'm learning all kinds of things at the craft store.) Here is the headband that I made and below is the tutorial as to how I made it.
To start I took two strips of ric rac about 20 inches long. I glued the ends together and then kind of braided them together. I say braided but I kind of twisted them together where they curves of the ric rac occur, in an over-under style. (I used a piece of black ric rac and a piece of white ric rac to help demonstrate how I made this but you could the all the same color too.)
I then took one end of the braided ric rac and started to coil it around in circles, so it looks like a flower. Every so often I would place a bit of glue to keep the coil together.
At the end I took the tail and glued it to the back side of the coiled flower to secure the end.
Then I glued a rhinestone to the center to give the flower a little bling. And with my fingers I pushed back a couple of the edges of the ric rac to give the flowers edges a little flair.
Then I attached the flower to a headband. I added some pieces of a feather boa to give the headband a little something extra and made two more all white ric rac flowers to each side of the black and white flower. And here is my little model MacchiOTTo showing off her new accessory.
