Strawberry Pretzel Dessert

It's almost August and that makes me think about.....the Indiana State Fair (Aug. 3- 19)
and the Indiana State Fair makes me think about the Indiana Family of Farmers Recipe Trail (that's held on the fairgrounds during the fair)
and the Indiana Family of Farmers Recipe Trail made me think of this Strawberry Pretzel dessert which was one of the recipes on the card (and because there is cream cheese in it and that's a dairy product and this years theme is the Year of the Dairy cow.)

So short story made long.... I made this dessert which I'm sure you've seen at some point in time at a carry in dinner, but in case you didn't know the recipe I am sharing it with you today.

Pretzel Base: 1 (10 oz) bag of pretzels, crushed, 3 T. Sugar, 3/4 cup butter, melted.
Place Pretzels in a ziplock bag, crush into small pieces.  (Do not use the powder from crushing)  Combine with remaining ingredients and spread on a 9 x 13 baking pan.  Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.  Cool completely.

Cream Cheese filling: 1 (8 oz) cream cheese, softened, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tub cool whip
Beat together, Spread over pretzel base.

Jello topping: 2 cups water, 1 large box strawberry jello, 1 (12 oz) bag frozen strawberries
Boil water, add jello.   Stir until dissolved.  Add strawberries stirring until defrosted.
Pour over Cream cheese filling.  Cover and refrigerate until set (a couple of hours).
