Ingredients: 1 cup steel cut oatmeal, 1 T. Cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 2 1/2 cups milk, 2 cups water. (Optional ingredients to suit your tastes; 1 appled sliced, 1/2 cup raisins, 1/2 cup pecans, 1/2 cup cranberries)
Tip: I used a crock pot liner to help make clean up easy, but if you don't have one, just grease your crock pot really good with a spray cooking oil.Directions: Place ingredients in a greased crock pot. Set to low. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours. Serves: 6
Once I dished myself up a bowl, I added a little bit of brown sugar to the bowl and it really made the cinnamon and apple flavors pop.

This sounds soooo good, and I am not usually a big fan of oatmeal. Maybe it sounds good because I am very cold right now?!!! Yum!
Will fix oatmeal recipe tonight. Sounds great and is healthier than pop tarts.
Do you have to use steel cut oats or can you use regular oatmeal?
I've been looking for a crock pot oatmeal recipe, and I wanted to also say it's nice to find a fellow 'Hoosier' here in blogville!! :) I've grabbed some of your other recipes, as well, and I'll be following! We've always wanted to live on a farm, and be more self sufficient ... anyone who is able, and does so, well, I must say, they are blessed!! Thanks for sharing this recipe and all the others ... can't wait to look around more! Have a wonderful day!! :)

I was so anxious to try this but only had instant/regular oats...it was disasterous! Lol! I would say steel cut oats are a must! Trying again now...with steel cut oats this time. Can't wait til morning :-)
