Ummmm.... Chocolate Peppermint Doughnuts

Normally I would blame my cravings on the pregnancy.  But this time of year, regardless if I'm pregnant or not I crave peppermint. Peppermint Hot Cocoa, Peppermint Ice Cream, Peppermint Candy, Cookies, Chocolates and Cheesecakes.  And today I'm craving Chocolate Peppermint Doughnuts, which are sure to be a hit at your holiday breakfast table.  Simply mix up your chocolate doughnut, then drizzle with a peppermint glaze and top off with some crushed candy canes as a sprinkle.
I bought this new pan at a department store and it worked great for the doughnuts.  And the recipe I'm about to share with you is fool-proof for an easy and perfect tasting chocolate cake doughnut.  Besides the peppermint glaze recipe I'm sharing with you; one could easily do a chocolate or vanilla flavored glaze to put on top as well.

Doughnut Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa, 1 tsp. baking powder, dash of salt, 2 eggs, 2/3 cup sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup sour cream, 2 T. butter, melted.
Directions:  Put all ingredients in a bowl and stir until just mixed.  (you don't want to over stir.)  Then place batter into a large ziplock bag.  (I used a gallon sized bag.) Snip the end off of one of the corners and squeeze batter into doughnut pan until 2/3's full.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.  Then take out of oven and allow to sit in pan for 5 minutes.  Then remove onto cooling rack or place.  Ice and serve fresh.
Peppermint Glaze Ingredients:  1 cup powdered sugar, 1 drop peppermint extract, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 T. milk.  Mix ingredients.  If glaze is too thick add a little more milk until desired consistency is reached.  Drizzle over doughnuts and top with crumbled candy cane as a sprinkle.
