Gooseberry Patch Recipe #7: Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread

You know that saying; kill two birds with one stone. Well that's what I am doing with the recipe I am sharing this week. I'm using a recipe that calls for yeast to suffice this month's Iron Chef Challenge and selected one out of the Gooseberry Patch Homemade Christmas Cookbook that I've been cooking out of for the past few weeks.  Therefore I share with you the recipe for Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread.  (See....I told you... two birds..... one stone.)
Somewhat similar in taste to the cheddar bay biscuits they serve at Red Lobster, this recipe is easy to make and utilizes a bread machine (which you all know as one of my all time favorite kitchen appliances.)
1 1/2 tsp. Red Star active dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
4 tsp. butter softened
1/2 c. sour cream
3 T. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. bread flour

Heat water until 110 to 115 degrees.  Dissolve yeast in warm water.  Add sugar.  Pour into bread machine pan and add other ingredients in order listed.  Select dough cycle.  When cycle is completed, turn dough out onto a flour surface.  Cover and let rise for 10 minutes.
Pull dough apart by handfuls and dip in Cheesy Garlic Mixture.
1/2 c. butter, melted
3 T. dried, minced onion
2 tsp. granulated garlic
Place in a greased pan.  Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cup shredded Colby jack cheese.
Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, until golden.
I liked this recipe because the bread machine does all the work for you.  Ott, E liked this recipe because the bread made nice sized rolls to have with dinner and had great flavor.

These look really good! Unfortunately yeast is not my friend. The last time I tried baking with yeast my cinnamon buns were a flop. But it's probably time to try again. After all, practice makes perfect!

Looks Yummy! I have my yeast, but not sure I am going to make the deadline. Tomorrow is my only window. We will see what the Good Lord throws my way between 10:00 and 2:00!

I do love my bread machine! And bread with cheese...can't go wrong! Thanks for hosting the challenge! It gave me the excuse I've 'needed' to make pumpkin yeast bread :D
