Tall Sunflowers

The one thing in our garden that has flourished in the heat is our sunflowers.  I had a few big headed sunflowers that came up as volunteers and wow, did they ever grow.

Now if you'll recall we handed out packages of sunflower seeds as party favors at our wedding.  So every year I have planted a few of those and above is a picture of one of those.

So here is one of the sunflowers and as you can see it is taller than me (even though the large head of the  flower is starting to bend down some.)

And here is the tallest one and as you can see it's a good 2 feet taller than Ott, E.  Although I grow the flowers because I like them as a flower, they do attract birds who eat the seeds of the heads.  And they are fun to watch grown really tall like this.
