Oh how my garden does grow

This weekend had perfect weather to be out working in the yard and garden.  We spent all of Saturday outside mowing the yard, working on the landscape, grillin', chillin' and gardenin'! We harvest our potatoes, (not just any potatoes, blue Adirondack Potatoes which are purple on the inside and out.) What we discovered about this variety of potato was that they are not heavy producers compared to the red and white potatoes we had grown in the past. Each plant just produced a couple of potatoes. But they are still a conversation piece.  After we cleared out all the potatoes we planted a second crop of lettuce and kohlrabi in their place.

See how great the pink, purple and white potatoes look together? We joking called them our red, white and blue mixture and fixed these on the grill with some oil, salt and pepper.
Our eggplants have started to produce their fruit and we are thinking with these hotter days ahead they will be ready to pick very soon.
We have lots of zucchini and summer squash coming on as well.  Soon I will be making Ott, E's favorite Chocolate Chip Zucchini Cake with these.
And had our first picking off our Green Beans.  These along with the potatoes were a great side to our dinner.  We always love eating out of our garden and enjoying the fruits of our labors.

This post was linked to Tuesday Garden Party on An Oregon Cottage.

I am going to have to try that chocolate chip zuchinni cake. I'm always looking for new recipes that involve zuchinni than just bread and fried zuchinni.

Love the potatoes! So jealous as we have never had success with potatoes. We're gonna try a different route this winter though. Looks great!

I love those purple potatoes. Do they taste like other potatoes? I should suggest my mom plant some of those in her garden. Your garden looks great!

Your potatoes look mah-velous! My potatoes have flowers at this point. My green beans are growing but not at the flowering stage yet, but I picked a big bowl of sugar snap peas a few days ago, and the raspberries are coming on strong.
