April's Iron Chef Challenge will feature Clabber Girl Baking Powder

Photobucket
Since Easter is in April this year, what better way to showcase all of your Easter baking creations than by featuring Clabber Girl Baking Powder for this month's Iron Chef Challenge!?!?

Clabber Girl is one of the oldest American food brands still in use. The brand dates back to 1899 when Hulman & Co introduced Clabber brand baking powder. The name was changed to Clabber Girl in 1923. Of course I think Clabber Girl is unique because it is a company located in Terre Haute, Indiana and if you are in the area you can be sure to stop by their museum and Bake Shop.

This month's Iron Chef Challenge will run April 15th-22nd. Bloggers can link up recipes they use that call for Baking Powder and show off how Clabber Girl is used in their kitchens. The best blog post with an enticing recipe, and great pictures will win a gourmet food basket filled with Clabber Girl products, including exclusive Clabber Girl mixes and Rex Coffee, valued at $100.

The guest judge will be: April Osburn who is Clabber Girl’s Culinary Classroom Chef. She is responsible for developing memorable cooking experiences for our culinary class clients. Osburn creates original menus for the classes that she organizes and teaches. She enjoys finding new ways to incorporate culinary classes into group team building and has contributed her recipes to national magazine publications. In addition to coordinating demonstrations for our culinary tour package visitors, she also has the responsibility for scheduling guest chefs who specialize in unique culinary encounters. Chef April also manages the Clabber Girl in-house catering department and plans menus for all special events. A favorite aspect of her job is educating visitors on the history of Clabber Girl and creating unique recipes using both CG products and those that can be found in the specialty food section of our Clabber Girl BakeShop. One of her greatest passions is baking and she is often found in the test kitchen, baking up something new for everyone to try!

You can learn more about Clabber Girl and all of their great products by visiting their website and following them on Facebook.  (They also have some great recipes too!)

I use baking powder ALL the time!! A combo of baking powder and vinegar can sub for an egg in baking recipes, so I use it all the time for my egg allergic 3 y/o! (1 T. vinegar, 1 T. milk or other liquid and 1 t. baking powder for each egg...up to 3 eggs, if anyone is interested!)
