spOTTed soaking up the San Diego sun: Day 2

Our second day in San Diego we ate breakfast at the Broken Yolk Cafe'.  We had seen this restaurant on an episode of Man vs. Food where he ate their famous 12 egg omelet (which was stuffed with chili, cheese, onions, mushrooms and served with a huge helping of hashbrowns and biscuits). I'll get to a story about that particular omelet a little later.  Please note we did not attempt this challenge, but we did try their 4 egg No Name Omelet which consisted of avocado, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, and mushrooms.
Eric and the No Name Omelet.
Then we went to the San Diego Botanical Garden.  This garden has a large Bamboo Garden and a really nice children's garden.  Below is a picture I took of a Bird of Paradise Flower which bloomed all over the city.

These are all varieties of Hens and Chicks which is an evergreen perennial.  Below Ott, E poses with some Ivy Topiary.
Below is an Under the Sea Garden.  All these plants look to mimic plants, algae and corals and when planted around some rocks it really does look like an scene from under the sea.
Then we walked around Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play.
So back to our story about the Broken Yolk Cafe'.  Later that week we went there with some of Ott, E's co-workers and one of them (after much egging on.... no pun intended) ordered the 12 egg omelet.  As you can see in this picture it's so big that they serve it on a pizza tray.
After about 35 minutes of eating he got through about half of the omelet and the hash browns, but never got to the biscuits.  So the food run in this round of Omelet vs. Ott, E's co-worker.

LOVE San Diego! It's a crazy thing to land in that town and see yourself flying between skyscrapers! Hope you made it the beach and were able to see Hotel Del Coronado. Tink walked right out to the ocean in front of this place and promptly sat right down in the Pacific Ocean. I will always love that memory! Great Trip!
