remOTTeling: our red kitchen cabinets

Photobucket
Now that it is winter and I can't be outside working in the yard or garden, I can start working on decorating the inside of our house.  One of the first things we did after we bought our house, a little over two years ago, was paint our kitchen cabinets red.  I always wanted a red kitchen and the house that we bought had cabinets with a darker wood.  So before we even moved in I had Ott, E take all the cabinet doors off.  We sanded them down.  Painted them with a gray primer and then painted them red.  It took two coats of "Breakfast Room Red" satin paint.  But it worked and we think was well worth our time.

Here is a picture of our kitchen before.

And here is a picture of if afterwards.
Of course I like red because it looks great with all my chicken and roosters I use to decorate with. But in general I think it updated the room and gave it some country charm.

Red is my favorite color and it added so much to your kitchen. I love what paint can do for a room.

Hi! Oh, I love how your cabinets turned out! The red looks wonderful and really gives your kitchen charm. For about five years my kitchen walls were red then I painted them yellow!
Be a sweetie,

Very nice! I have white cabinets and while I love them, they constantly need cleaned! But I don't think I have it in me to re-model!

Beautiful! I just LOVE red cabinets!
And my favorite thing about winter is winter time indoor projects. I don't think I could survive the cold weather without them. :)
Hope you have a great weekend!
Beth.

Looks GREAT, and Kudos to you for having the courage to go with the red. I LOVE IT!!! It reminds me of a wonderful country barn. I know you must be tickled with the effect. The pop of red has to be very cheerful to see when you walk in there every morning. Thanks for sharing the fantastic transformation today. The rooster valance looks great with it.

Love the red cabinets. Ours are dingy white. We're in the process of sanding and repainting, but it's taking forever! Even now that it's colder, there's still so much else to do, my inside project tend to get pushed to the bottom of the list.

I adore the red! I've redone kitchen cabinets . . . once! I think that will be my first and last time too. Such a job! But what a sensational transformation! Works so well with sunflowers too ;)

Would love you to stop by this weekend and link up to Passion for Paint.
