hOTT off the grill: Pizza

Photobucket
The calendar may show summer is coming to an end, but around here we are still grillin' out and this past weekend we grilled pizza.  We were selected to throw a Boboli House Party and serve pizza to our guests straight off the grill.  Now I must admit this was our first time grilling pizza, so I was a little bit skeptical at first, but luckily Boboli sent directions as well as recipe cards and party favors for our guest.

So I purchased a couple different sizes and styles of crust like Original and Whole Wheat.

To start with you brush both sides of the crust with Olive Oil and place just the crusts on a preheated grill for just a couple of minutes on both sides.

Then you can add your toppings and place back on the grill for 8-10 minutes or until cheese melts and the crust is brown.

We wanted to try something really different and used one of the recipes and made a Lime Chicken & Cilantro Pizza.
Ingredients:
1 12" Boboli Pizza Crust
4 oz. cooked and sliced chicken breast
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, or 4 tsp. dried cilantro
2 T. Lime juice
dash of salt and pepper
1/2 c. salsa
1 c. Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
1/2 avocado, sliced (optional)

Directions:  Prepare crust as I described above.  In a bowl, mix cooked chicken, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper.  Spread salsa on crust.  Add cheese.  Top with chicken mixture.

Place crust on grill for 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.  Add sliced avocado for garnish. Slice and serve.

Overall, I was really impressed by how easy and quick it was to prepare.  As a hostess it was easy to converse with guests, and still be able to get the pizza's fixed and on the grill.  I also like how they were done in practically no time.  Boboli crusts had great flavor and everyone enjoyed the taste.

We also used Boboli Crusts to make cheese sticks as an appetizer and added some yummy toppings to make a dessert pizza as well.  So many options!!!!

Now, we get to the fun part.  A GIVE-A-WAY!!!!!   One of my lucky followers will win a Boboli Tote Bag, with recipes, magnet and $10 in coupons to purchase Boboli Pizza Crust and give grilled pizza a try.

This contest will run through Sunday, September 5th at noon EST.

I have NOT made a pizza on the grill yet! BUT it's getting more and more tempting! I need to clean the cobwebs off the grill and get cracking before the snow starts flying ;-)

Nope, I've never tried grilling a pizza, but now I'm wondering with a ready-made crust like Boboli's if it's possible to do it in a hot fry pan on the stove. Worth a try. I've been hungering for pizza lately. I'm glad I stumbled upon your blog. It means it's time for a pizza. :-)
