Ott, A is getting all ready to can

I was really excited to find out that this Sundays Paper will have coupons for $1.00 off Ball Canning jars and products and wanted to share that with you all.  As the produce in my garden keeps ripening I am getting more and more anxious to start canning.  So I will definitely be keeping an eye out for these so I can stock up.
Why am I so excited about canning you may ask??  Well I am getting ready to host a "Canning Week Blog Party" along with Jen over at From Mess Hall to Bistro the week of August 23-27th.  During that week we will be posting all kinds of tips, recipes, how to guides all about canning produce.  If you have ever be courious or skeptical about canning now is your time to learn, ask questions and give it a try for yourself.  We will have give-a-ways, a linky party and have started a facebook page "from garden plOTT to kitchen pOTT" so you can continue learning from others, trading recipes, etc.  It will be lots of fun, so we hope you will stop by and participate.  In the meantime, buy some jars so you too will be well stocked and ready to party!!!!

I don't always get the Sunday paper, but I'll make sure to grab one this weekend! I don't have a big enough garden to do canning this year, but I do want some jars for other storage in my pantry!

Next year I plan to start some canning! So, I'll be checking out your carnival for tips and recipes!

Adding myself to your followers' list!

Oh this is great...not so much the discount but that you'll be giving tips on canning and recipes all this week. I'm also glad to hear about the canning link party coming up. I'm new to it all so I'm looking forward to see what I can learn.

Where were you all when my mom and I were canning in a non-air-conditioned kitchen back in the late 70's, oh yeah, you were probably not born! ;-) I didn't know canning could be so fun. Mom and I are special because our hands are small enough to fit inside the small mouth jars. We could pack a lot of beans with those hands. We don't do that much any more. I may have to tune in and rediscover my inner canner again! ;-)

One day I'll try this. For now I'm just enjoying the few veggies and fruits I get from my super shady garden :) My grandmother canne everything and saved apples in the attic since we lived on an old farm in Poland and couldn't buy the stuff at stores (gotta love socialism!)

I can't wait for your week of canning fun. I have never canned before, but every year my mother-in-law promises to teach me. I'm still waiting. :-)
